City as Lines
4TH YR STUDIO PROJECT CITY AS LINES / CITY AS SURFACES
4TH YEAR DESIGN STUDIO - CITY AS LINES / CITY AS SURFACES
INSTRUCTOR: DWAYNE OYLER
This studio explored architecture’s relationship to the city, reading the city as a series of relations between lines and surfaces.
Lines as a form-generative tool, explored the relationship between lines and surfaces, lines leading to surfaces, and surfaces creating volumes. A series of drawings inspired the study models. Through the drawings and study models, the potential of the tectonic system was explored in the context of organization. Investigated the potential of the tectonic system as a structural condition. The final model addressed the contextual, structural, organizational, and spatial conditions of the design.
Space exploration museum > exploration of the architectural spaces celebrating the interior spatial conditions created by the tectonic system
Space exploration museum > a museum displaying the achievements of human outer space exploration milestones. California, being one of the most important scientific and technological hubs in the world, it seem fitting to pay tribute to the contributions it has made to the advancement of outer space exploration
